What’s Included?
Single family homes may get up to $3,000* in free upgrades. Multi-family units may get up to $2,000* in free upgrades per unit. What you get depends on the result of the Home Energy Checkup.
Who’s Eligible?
To receive free energy-efficiency products and services under this program, your household must:
- Be located in I&M’s service area in Indiana.
- Live in a single-family or multi-family home.
- Be under the federal income limits listed here.

- Get free energy-saving products installed at no charge.
How it Works
- A trusted I&M certified contractor will do the Home Energy Checkup to see how your home uses energy.
- You’ll get a report with tips to use less energy, so you can start saving right away.
- If they can’t finish all the installs in one day, the certified contractor will set up a second visit.

Single-family homes can take one to two hours for the full check. Apartments can take two to four hours.
- Clear away furniture or other items blocking doors or windows.
- Clear away anything blocking furnace and AC access.
- Clear away anything blocking registers and cold air returns.
- Put pets in a crate, carrier or in a closed room.
- Be sure an adult is home to let the certified contractor inside.
- Keep kids under 18 busy in another room or outside while the certified contractor is working.
- An adult must be at home if kids are at home when the certified contract is there.
You will get it about a week after the certified contractor visits. Your custom report will have more tips to help you save energy.

Our certified contractors are verified by Franklin Energy and I&M. They wear proper safety gear and follow all OSHA, federal and state safety standards.
