Any multi-family property with 10 or more residential units in Indiana Michigan Power’s service area in the State of Indiana.

Most tenants are happy to boost their unit’s energy efficiency and potentially reduce their energy bills. Installation takes only a few minutes and is scheduled at the tenant’s convenience. However, 100% resident participation isn’t required for owners/managers to receive a free Energy Assessment or free products and installation.

Your I&M Energy Auditor can supply you with free door hangers and flyers to keep your residents informed on the days our technicians will be on-site. Just ask.

We only need access to common areas and one unit, and that unit doesn’t have to be occupied. If you do want us to review an occupied unit, please ask the resident to do the following:

  • Clear away furniture or other items blocking doors or windows.
  • Clear away anything blocking access to the furnace and AC.
  • Clear away anything blocking registers and cold air returns.
  • Put pets in a crate, carrier or closed room.
  • Be sure an adult is home to let the Energy Auditor inside.
  • An adult must be present if kids are at home when the Energy Auditor is there.
  • Keep kids under 18 busy in another room or outside while the Energy Auditor is working.

Our Energy Auditor and installers carry Indiana Michigan Power ID badges, wear proper safety gear, and follow all OSHA, federal and state safety standards.

“ENERGY STAR certified” indicates a product, home or building meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or Department of Energy (DOE). It signifies superior efficiency (often 10% to 35% more efficient than standard), lower utility costs and reduced greenhouse gas emissions without sacrificing performance.

WaterSense is a voluntary partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that helps consumers identify efficient fixtures like toilets, faucets and showerheads. WaterSense-labeled homes, products and services are independently certified to use at least 20% less water, save energy and perform as well as or better than standard models.
