Michigan Business Energy Rebates

Efficient equipment pays for itself faster when paired with a rebate. The Efficiency United Commercial & Industrial Energy Waste Reduction Program helps Michigan businesses of every size reduce energy waste, whether that means a single lighting retrofit or a yearlong energy management partnership. Review the offers below to find the one that fits your project.

Rebates on the Upgrades You Are Already Planning

Lighting, compressed air, heating systems, industrial process equipment: If it saves energy, you’ll likely qualify for a rebate. Prescriptive rebates cover common upgrades with set incentive amounts and a straightforward application. Custom rebates cover unique projects and processes, with savings calculated for your specific facility. Either way, the result is a safer, more comfortable and more productive place to work for less than you budgeted.

Where rebates are available:

  • Lighting
  • Compressed air
  • Space heating
  • Water heating
  • Air sealing and insulation
  • Window and door replacements
  • Industrial process equipment
  • ENERGY STAR®-certified equipment

ELIGIBILITY & DETAILS

  • Rebates are available only to customers of participating Efficiency United utilities and are subject to change.
  • Projects with a signed incentive offer on file receive their associated rebates upon completion of the project under the terms of that signed offer, but no later than December 15, 2026.
  • Funds are limited and paid on a first-come, first-served basis. Projects submitted after December 15, 2026, will be subject to the incentive levels associated with the 2027 programs.

No-Cost Upgrades, Installed During the Visit

A field representative comes to your business, performs a no-cost energy assessment and replaces qualifying equipment with efficient models right then. Within two weeks, you get a report outlining any additional opportunities worth pursuing. The assessment and upgrades cost nothing, and you don’t need to purchase or install any equipment.

Common upgrades

  • LED lamp swap-out
  • Faucet aerators
  • High-efficiency pre-rinse nozzles
  • Engineered compressed air nozzles
  • Door and window weatherstripping

How it works

  1. Schedule your appointment online.
  2. Our SBDI field representative visits your site to provide a no-cost energy assessment. You receive a report within two weeks detailing your opportunities.
  3. Where possible, the field representative replaces qualifying, less efficient equipment with newer, more efficient versions.
  4. For opportunities not addressed during the visit, reach out to your Account Manager to discuss incentives for those upgrades

The Pilots Program puts emerging technologies in your building first, so you can evaluate new products before the wider market does. Offerings change every year.

Earn Incentives for the Savings Your Team Creates

Not every energy saving comes from new equipment. Strategic Energy Management is a yearlong program that measures and rewards the savings your team drives through better operations. We build production- and weather-sensitive models for your facility and evaluate them annually, so you can quantify your results. SEM coaches and energy engineers support you the whole way.
